At the beginning of May, TANGO was at the DataWeek 2026 in Oslo, where, with other EU-funded projects, we have organized the workshop “Beyond the Black Box: Building Trustworthy AI through Literacy, Standards, and Human-Centric Design”. Here, the speakers have discussed building the foundations for trustworthy AI and presented challenges, best practices, and current work about the integration of work between human and AI.
In our session, the speakers have engaged in a discussion about the concrete realization of trustworthy AI; they focused on how to bridge the gap between the AI regulatory frameworks, such as the EU AI Act, and their implementation in the real world. The talk has shifted to explainability, especially for non-technical stakeholders: how can this system be useful and used for non-experts, in a way that balances simplicity, accuracy, and accountability.
In conclusion, translating requirements into practice will require focusing on AI governance and standards, and collaboration among stakeholders to reach real trustworthy and explainable AI.
Thank you to everyone who followed the session, we hope our panel has inspired you – and looking forward to meeting at the next events!
