University of Trento, the coordinator of the TANGO Project is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 4th Workshop on Hybrid Human-Machine Learning and Decision Making (HLDM’26), organised in conjunction with ECML-PKDD 2026, taking place between 7 and 11 September 2026.

Following the success of previous editions, the workshop aims to bring together a multidisciplinary community of researchers and practitioners working on the design, development and assessment of effective hybrid human-machine decision-making systems. The initiative will provide a dedicated forum to discuss recent advances in human-in-the-loop machine learning, human-LLM collaboration, trustworthy and ethical AI, interactive learning approaches, as well as cognitive, legal and regulatory considerations shaping decision support technologies.

The programme will include invited keynote contributions, poster presentations, selected oral sessions and a concluding discussion focusing on emerging research priorities and future challenges in hybrid intelligence.

Topics of interest include, among others: selective and cost-sensitive learning, active and interactive learning methods, calibration of learning models, human factors in decision processes, theoretical and applied hybrid decision strategies, multiparty decision-making contexts, as well as ethical, legal and regulatory frameworks for hybrid decision support systems.

The workshop welcomes short papers presenting work-in-progress or position contributions, regular papers describing original unpublished research, and non-archival submissions reporting relevant work recently accepted or under review at other venues. All archival submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process and accepted papers will be included in the Springer Workshop Proceedings of ECML-PKDD 2026.

All accepted contributions will be presented as posters, while a selection of high-quality papers will be invited for short oral presentations during the workshop.

Key dates:
• Paper submission deadline: 7 June 2026
• Author notification: 7 July 2026
• Workshop date: 7 or 11 September 2026
