THIS WEEK, IN THE ‘BEHIND THE SCENES’ SERIES, WE’RE SPEAKING WITH CHIEF OF CABINET, SERBIAN mINSTRY OF FAMILY WELFARE AND DEMOGRAPHY (minbpd), Jovan Prvulović. JOVAN WILL BE TELLING US ABOUT HIS ROLE AND THE ROLE OF MINBPD WITHIN THE TANGO PROJECT.

Thank you for speaking to us today. Could you start by introducing yourself and telling us where you are based?

 As Chief of Cabinet, I perform advisory, expert, protocol tasks, as well as tasks of an organizational and administrative-technical nature that are of immediate importance to the Minister’s work. I take care of the timely execution of the duties and activities of the minister. My job includes managing the work of the Cabinet, monitoring the timely implementation of assigned activities in the internal units of the Ministry and performing tasks related to the performance of ministerial functions. Cooperation with the Office of the Secretary General of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the cabinets of other ministries, as well as with the services of the National Assembly, the Government and their working bodies is included in my daily activities. By order, I also perform other tasks on behalf of the minister.

How would you describe TANGO with three words only?

Innovation, problem solving, empowerment.

What is your main task in the TANGO project?

I am the administrative contact of MINBPD and participate in the preparation of activity T5.5: Policy making case study within Work Package 5, in monitoring and sharing relevant information.

What do you like most about your role?

Contact with people of different backgrounds, knowledge sharing and personal development.

How do your professional interests match the objectives of TANGO?

Identifying factors (people, organization, environment, technology) that influence the acceptance, adoption and spread of AI in the public sector, as well as assessing the advantages and disadvantages of its application.

What is unique about TANGO in your opinion?

TANGO enables faster adoption and acceptance of machine simulation of human intelligence processes and makes it more prominent in the world.

What makes your organisation ideal for participating in the research/activities of TANGO?

The ministry’s success is determined by the efficiency of its policies benefiting the populace The participation of our organization will enable testing the effectiveness of AI in the complex public sector by simplifying administrative tasks, improving decision-making, predicting problems with increasing efficiency based on the processing of a large amount of data from various sources while improving AI algorithms interpretability.

What do you see as the biggest challenge for TANGO?

User Acceptance. 

What is one key thing you have learned from working on TANGO so far?

Continuous learning capabilities provide adaptation and limitless possibilities for the development and application of AI in a wide range of fields.

Could you describe the overall expected impact of the TANGO project in three words?

 Objectivity in decision-making, improve work efficiency, positive social changes.
