This week, in the ‘Behind the Scenes’ series, we’re speaking with Aleksandra DorDević, Project Manager from our project partner, the SHARE Foundation. She’ll be shedding light on her role and the role of the SHARE Foundation within the TANGO project.
Thanks for speaking to us today. Could you start by introducing yourself and telling us where you are based?
Hi, I am Aleksandra from SHARE Foundation, located in Belgrade, Serbia.
How would you describe TANGO with three words only?
Hybrid decision making.
What does your typical working day in the TANGO project involve?
A typical working day involves staying informed about the latest developments within the project. This is done by reviewing the partners’ updates and planning the next steps for project implementation.
What is your main task in the TANGO project?
SHARE will provide ethical and legal oversight of the pilot, as well as dissemination of information about the project to the relevant stakeholders.
What do you like most about your role?
SHARE remains committed to its mission, focusing on the in-depth analysis of the dynamic fundamentals surrounding AI. This includes ethical and legal aspects of AI and its implications on privacy and data protection.
What makes your organisation ideal for participating in the research/activities of TANGO?
In December 2023, SHARE published a book titled ‘Beyond the Face: Biometrics and Society.’ Spanning over 300 pages and divided into three main segments – Technology, Law, and Practice – the book introduces readers to the current global experience of the conflict between fundamental human rights and the profit-driven biometric surveillance industry. The book was promoted in Berlin on December 4th at the offices of Tactical Tech and on December 6th in Brussels at the European Parliament. The promotion of the book in Brussels took place during the final stages of the trialogue on the AI Act and provided additional context to the MEPs participating in the negotiations.
Many thanks for taking the time to speak to us, Aleksandra! We look forward to more updates from the team at SHARE Foundation.
